Another veil drops
Today Nicolas' son worked some magic on our front wall, chipping away the horrifying pink render to finally reveal the source of much speculation around here since we moved in: the stones on our front wall. Would they be rubble not worthy of exposure, or grand blocks worthy of the palace that I like to think of as home?
And the answer is....
Excellent. Nice big rocks, which means we'll soon have the extreme pleasure of sipping sunset cocktails on the verandah while marvelling at the good sense of the builders of this place, as well as of we who have chosen to expose their good works.
Also, check this out:
The window frames, which are delightfully sizable blocks of rock already, actually continue into the wall in a very pretty big/little pattern. Which is to say that the level of stonework that went into the house is more than we had anticipated, that the blocks would be cut with such nice details in mind.
So that's today's good news. Tomorrow the rest of the whole facade should be exposed, so that we can answer more questions. There are two chimneys embedded in this wall somehow. Will they be visible? Will they be pretty? Stay tuned.
