A la plage

Today we had a holiday from house-hunting. Good thing too, since it has been a pretty intense week of property visits. And so we headed to the beach west of Bordeaux. This would be more or less our local beach, should we buy house #32, and so we were actually combining pleasure with research :)

Super nice. A huge wide beach it was, with powder-soft sand and the Atlantic as blue as I've ever seen it. There were plenty people out there, too, playing their paddle games, and courting sun-borne skin diseases, but the best part was the knowledge that, despite all the people we saw, there were hundreds of miles of beach, and to get away from it all would be no effort. Kepler played in the water. I played with my ukulele. It was very relaxing.

On a mental-progress note, we're still very enthusiastic about house #32. Tomorrow's the make-or-break revisit, when we'll look in depth at the place and really analyze what we'd do to it to make it better, check out the village in more detail, and visit the local Saturday market; but right now neither Sarah nor I can think of much in the way of new information that would really kill this house. We just might sign very soon. Of course, we still have one more house appointment scheduled for monday, and there's a 12th century church nearby I'd also like to see... but we're likely to sign on this house after those visits. And thank god. I'm ready to move on to the next phase.
